Tokenize Malaysia becomes KDX — and draws a firm line from its Singapore namesake

Exchange desk

One of Malaysia's original licensed exchanges is changing its name — at a moment when the distinction matters enormously.

Tokenize Technology (M) Sdn Bhd, among the first three DAX operators registered by the SC in 2019, is transitioning to a new brand: Kinetic DAX (KDX). The timing is no accident. Its Singapore namesake, Tokenize Xchange Singapore (AmazingTech Pte Ltd), announced in July it would cease Singapore operations after failing to obtain a payment institution licence, and is now under Singapore police investigation over failed withdrawals and its TKX token.

The firewall statement

KDX has publicly stressed that the Malaysian exchange shares no custody arrangements or operational dependencies with the Singapore firm. Client assets on the Malaysian platform sit within the SC's regulated framework — segregation requirements, local custody, local accountability. Kenanga Investment Bank has held a 19% stake in the Malaysian entity since 2022, an anchor shareholder of exactly the sort a moment like this is for.

The lesson

Same brand heritage, different regulatory perimeters, very different outcomes. For Malaysian users the takeaway is the one this association has repeated since 2019: the licence is the product. Check the SC's register, not the logo.
