The licensed club has a fourth member. MX Global Sdn Bhd has announced its full approval from the Securities Commission to operate as a Recognised Market Operator (Digital Asset Exchange), joining Luno, SINEGY and Tokenize — the first new entrant since the original three were registered in June 2019.
The SC's approval was granted in mid-2021, with the public announcement made today. Dato' Fadzli Shah has been appointed CEO to lead the exchange.
Why it matters
For two years, Malaysia's regulated crypto market has been a three-horse race, with Luno holding a dominant share. A fourth licensed venue means more competition on fees, listings and user experience — and it demonstrates that the SC's door, while heavy, does open. MX Global has positioned itself as a homegrown platform with an emphasis on compliance-first growth.
The association congratulates the MX Global team. A deeper bench of regulated operators is good for investors, good for token issuers eyeing the local market, and good for the credibility of Malaysia's framework abroad.
